Ode to R&D

A long time ago (August 2001)
Was the saga of Roger & Dominic begun.
Starring Zorbon, or Dominic, from Minik he came;
And Roger the clueless, who has no last name.
At first for young Roger the future seemed grim
Since Dominic was here on a mission to kill him.
He tried using mayo, and donut-shaped spores,
And other attemps Roger mostly ignored;
But finally the closest of friends they would be
Through Roger's birfday gift of figures from Seaquest DSV.
Meanwhile, Specimen 583, the spore;
Carried on the mission as mentioned before.
Using a cocoon and the consumption of Huggy,
It became a green creature with three eyes that were buggy.
Rogersgylrfrunt, the mutation was called,
Instead married Roger though she was much appalled.
Many new friends soon joined the strip:
Among others:Lardy, The Geek, and LL Koolwip:
The Geek joined Survival Island and won the big prize
But time after time has met gory demise.
LL Koolwip was a rapper who laid down phat beats,
But now mostly resembles a sweet dessert treat.
Lardy had a most unusual birth;
The byproduct of Roger's excess holiday girth.
Dr. Lollipops, the medic, he hates to discuss
The phrase "All your base are belong to us."
The Ghost of Brad Anderson cursed Roger to write
His comic "Marmaduke" which has soared to new heights.
Lorna, the actress, is a B-movie star;
A blond, blue-eyed bimbo with boobs that reach Mars.
The Plot, without whom there would be no story;
It lives a short time and then dies in glory.
Korr flies a egg ship and controls time,
Ate family of Korr and hates the daytime.
The Ninja, from Boston, he's Lorna's big fan
He lives next door with Stan Lee's Spiderman.
Roger Jr.'s the daughter of Roger and Gyrlf;
98% human, 2% not of this earth.
Sir Beeps-a-lot guards Dominic's lab,
Babysits Roger Jr., and talks in pre-fab.
Soupman is from the future, about 50 years ahead;
He kidnaps Roger Jr., and wears a cape of red.
They've travelled in time both future and past
And all their adventures have been a blast;
So here's to 1000 strips with laughter galore,
Congratulations TD, we wish you many more!
